Clinical trials: Stretch mark clinical trial
In 2005, Union-Swiss commissioned a 12-week clinical assessment to test the effect of the topical application of Bio-Oil on the appearance of stretch marks. This was conducted from September to December 2005 by the Photobiology Laboratory of the Medical University of South Africa - an internationally recognized clinical test laboratory that over the past 15 years, has conducted clinical studies for most of the major multinational cosmetic and toiletry companies.
Methodology
- 20 panelists: All Caucasian females between the ages of 18 and 55.
- Application: twice daily.
- All sites were abdominal stretch marks and varied in size from small white pearly ellipses to large contiguous pink/red dappled “zebra-stripe” lines.
- Bilateral abdominal stretch marks were chosen, enabling a half-abdomen study design which allowed for intra-subject comparison.
